IPA at Frankfurt Book Fair 2024
IPA will have a full programme of open and invite-only meetings at Frankfurt Book Fair this year. We are also delighted to see the Frankfurt Book Fair rights platform highlight SDG Publishers Compact signatories. Note this is a provisional schedule. IPA President Karine Pansa recently attended the Beijing International Book Fair 2024. Accompanied by Hugo Zhang, Catriona Stevenson, and Guoyi Zhao from Elsevier, Pansa attended the grand opening ceremony held at the China Guest House. Read more.

IPA Vice President Gvantsa Jobava attended two significant events held in Burgas, Bulgaria: the inaugural Black Sea Literary Festival and FARA - The Festival of Bulgarian Association of Communications Agencies. Read more.

The Italian Publishers Association (AIE) is hosting an online seminar titled "Artificial Intelligence, One Year Later: Evolutions, Developments, Opportunities for the Publishing Industry" on July 3rd, from 9:30 AM to 1:30 PM. Read more.

Publisher's Ownership of Accessibility

Accessibility in Action – EDR Lab's Digital Publishing Summit
Laura Brady: Held on May 31 in the lovely setting of the Philantro-Lab in Paris, this was a lovely day of engaging with new technologies, learning something of the history of digital publishing, and revisiting the needs of a marketplace that centers on accessibility. There were a wide variety of attendees from almost all corners of the world who are engaged in the work of digital publishing. Read more.

IPA Vice President was recently interviewed on the current climate of publishing in Georgia by Punctum (In Latvian). Her participation in the panel, "Exploring the role of female innovators in the global publishing industry," at Readmagine 24 was covered by Renodo (in Spanish) and PublishNews (in Portuguese). Her participation at the Black Sea International Literary Festival was covered by the Bulgarian News Agency.

IPA Secretary General José Borghino's participation at the Kitabistan Talks was covered by Kitabistan.org.

IPA's advocacy for the freedom of expression, freedom to read, and freedom to publish was covered in an article on Switzerland, freedom of expression, and the EU elections by Publishing Perspectives.

Former IPA President Richard Charkin was listed in the King's Birthday Honors, as reported on by Publishing Perspectives.
