South Africa: IAF, IFRRO, IPA and STM urge President Ramaphosa to withhold signing Copyright Amendment Bill
Today, 20 March 2024, the major representatives of authors and publishers around the world, IAF, IPA and STM, and IFRRO, representing the collective management organisations in the text and image-based sector worldwide, are asking President Cyril Ramaphosa to withhold signing the Copyright Amendment Bill. IPA at LBF24: Charles Clark Memorial Lecture 2024 
Charles Clark (1933- 2006) spent much of his career focusing his critical mind on the intersection of copyright and technology. This year's memorial lecture did just that with 'Perspective on AI and IP' featuring Dr Hayleigh Bosher (Brunel University London) and Eleonora Rosati (Stockholm University) in conversation with the Publishers Association's Catriona Stevenson. Looking Ahead to the Bologna Children's Book Fair, IPA's New Patron Member
The 61st Bologna Children's Book Fair (BCBF) is set to take place from 8th to 11th April 2024 at the BolognaFiere Exhibition Centre with IPA keenly involved in the first Fair since it became a patron member of the IPA. Read More.

IPA in the News

IPA's collaboration with international organizations in releasing a public statement on the need to protect the freedom of expression, to read, and to publish was covered by Publishing Perspectives, Publishers Weekly, Library Journal, The Bookseller, and PEN International.

IPA's filing of an Amicus Brief in support of American Publishers against Internet Archive was covered by Publishers Weekly. IPA's opposition to South Africa's Copyright Act was also covered by Publishing Perspectives.

The SDG Publishers Compact was covered by Publishing Perspectives and The Mirage.

IPA's programming at the London Book Fair, featuring sessions with IPA President Karine Pansa and Secretary General José Borghino, was covered by Publishers Weekly.

Former IPA President Richard Charkin published a blog post, titled "'Unintended Consequences,' the Sequel" with Publishing Perspectives.
