Read more. | | | Six thousand books distributed in Rio's Alemão and Penha Complexes On 24 November, the "Book Invasion" project, organized by the NGO Voz das Comunidades and the Rio Book Biennial, brought over 50 volunteers to distribute around six thousand books across the Alemão and Penha complexes. Now in its fourth edition, the initiative was created by journalist Rene Silva to turn the memory of the 2010 police invasion into a celebration of literature. Publishing Perspectives published several articles linked to the Congress in Guadalajara, Mexico. These include IPA's ongoing work on SDGS, copyright linked to the Internet Archive case, the keynote on Ukraine's Oleksandra Matviichuk, IPA's Guadalajara Declaration, IPA Champion and Innovation Awards, the new Bologna Prize, Indian Printer and Publisher, In addition, Publishers Weekly published an article on the Congress' breaking a new record in the number of its participants, showcasing the success of the event held in Mexico. Prix Voltaire and Special Award At the Congress, Samir Mansour won the 2024 IPA Prix Voltaire. This has been covered by a wide range of sources, including Republika (Indonesia), Giornale della Libreria (Italy), ArabLit, Publishing Perspectives and Publishers Weekly. Kyiv Independent and Gordon (Ukraine) covered the Special Award to late Ukrainian writer Victoria Amelina, who was posthumously honored at the Congress in Mexico.
