Copyright Committee holds regional meetings in Africa and Latin America
Copyright was high on IPA's and our members' agenda this September. Our Copyright Committee meeting took place on September 13th and gathered representatives from over 40 countries across IPA's membership. Read more.
Publishers and authors condemn disinformation in the Internet Archive case
In September 2022, the Authors Guild and the Association of American Publishers (AAP) released statements in response to Fight for the Future's 'In Solidarity with Libraries' letter falsely claiming that the lawsuit against Internet Archive's open library harms public libraries. Read more.
South African Court boosts disabled access to published works
On 21 September 2022, South Africa's Constitutional Court delivered a unanimous decision in favour of Blind SA to allow print-impaired persons access to reading materials. Read more.

Same Sky Publishing announced as 2022 Prix Voltaire laureate
The International Publishers Association's Freedom to Publish Committee has selected Thai publishing house Same Sky (Fah Deaw Kan) to receive the 2022 IPA Prix Voltaire. The Bangkok-based company was chosen from a shortlist of five nominees. Read more.
IPA Concern at Hong Kong prison sentences for picture book authors and publishers
IPA is very concerned about the degradation of the freedom to publish situation in Hong Kong after five speech therapists, turned authors and publishers, were sentenced to 19 months in prison. Read more.
IPA backs Tsitsi Dangarembga following incomprehensible Court Judgement
Award winning Zimbabwean author, Tsitsi Dangarembga, given 6 month suspended prison sentence as lengthy proceedings come to an end. Read more.

IPA President Bodour Al Qasimi joined representatives from former, current and future World Book Capital Cities in Wrocław, Poland, to sign the World Book Capitals Network Charter.  Read more.

IPA's statement on Tsiti Dangarembga's conviction was picked up in Publishing Perspectives and Actualitté.

Publishing Perspectives also covered the results of IPA's elections, which were announced at the 2022 General Assembly.
