IPA is delighted to partner the Sharjah International Book Fair Publishers' Conference taking place from 31 October - 2 November. World's press, book publishers and journalists condemn Pakistan plan for strict control over media

The World Association of News Publishers (WAN-IFRA), the International Publishers Association (IPA), and the International Federation of Journalists (IFJ) call on Pakistani authorities to retract plans to establish the 'Pakistan Media Development Authority' (PMDA) that risks placing strict state control over all media. On 15 June 1896, the first International Publishers Congress was held in Paris. The International Publishers Congress would later become the International Publishers Association and this month we marked our 125th anniversary. We have opened our celebrations with a special anniversary logo, a beautiful mini-documentary talking to many IPA Past-Presidents and digitising our Centenary book for the first time. IPA celebrates International Translation Day with special Webinar 

Publishing Perspectives Editor in Chief, Porter Anderson, guided experts from Italy, Brazil, Georgia and the U.S.A. as they brought their takes as authors, publishers, and funds on the importance of translations in the international book market. Read more.

IPA President Bodour Al Qasimi was interviewed by the BBC World Business Report, discussing the impact of COVID-19 lockdowns on the international publishing industry.
 
The negative impacts of the pandemic on reading culture and critical publishing industry infrastructure was highlighted by IPA President Bodour Al Qasimi in Deutsche Welle's coverage of the Frankfurt Book Fair.
 
Michiel Kolman, former president of the IPA and current Chair of the IPA's Inclusive Publishing and Literacy Committee, was interviewed by Velocity of Content Podcast on the subject of publishers' efforts to tackle climate change and commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG).
 
InSPIRe, the International Sustainable Publishing and Industry Resilience Plan Taskforce, created by IPA President Bodour Al Qasimi, was highlighted in an article by The Bookseller.
